What are the eligibility criteria for applying as a Law Researcher in the High Court of Uttarakhand?

The candidate must be a graduate in law from a recognized institution in India, eligible for enrollment as an Advocate with the Bar Council of India. Final-year law students can also apply if they provide proof of acquiring the law qualification before joining. The candidate must be under 30 years of age, a citizen of India, and have good working knowledge of computers. They must not be engaged elsewhere on a payment basis, have a criminal record involving moral turpitude, or face disciplinary proceedings.

What is the term and nature of engagement for a Law Researcher?

Law Researchers are engaged on a short-term contractual basis, extendable up to three years or until the retirement of the Hon’ble Judge, whichever is earlier. In exceptional cases, the term may be extended to four years based on performance. The engagement does not confer any right to regular appointment or continuance beyond the contract period. The Law Researcher may be discharged prematurely without notice, and they must provide one month’s prior written notice if they wish to leave.

What is the remuneration for a Law Researcher?

A Law Researcher is paid a fixed monthly honorarium of ₹50,000. The honorarium may be revised from time to time. No additional allowances or perks are provided.

How are candidates selected for the position of Law Researcher?

Selection is based on an assessment prescribed by the Hon’ble Judge concerned. Only shortlisted candidates are called for the assessment. The final selection is made by the Hon’ble Judge to whom the Law Researcher will be attached. The Judge may decide whether to call an applicant for an interview at their discretion.
