UPESSC Pravakta (PGT/Lecturer) Recruitment 2026

- Direct recruitment for 2,607 Pravakta (Post Graduate Teacher/Lecturer) posts in government-aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh.
- Vacancies are split between 2,329 boys' schools and 278 girls' schools across 26 subjects.
- Recruitment is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Seva Chayan Ayog (UPESSC) based on requisitions from the Secondary Education Directorate, Prayagraj.
- The recruitment drive aims to fill teaching positions in subjects like Hindi, English, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Commerce, History, Sanskrit, Urdu, Geography, and more.

- Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
- Age Limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 62 years as of 1 July 2026.
- Qualification Requirements:
- For most subjects: A postgraduate degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university, along with a B.Ed (Shiksha Snatak) degree from an NCTE-recognized program.
- For Music (Vocal/Instrumental): A postgraduate degree in Music or a Bachelor’s degree in Music with specialization (vocal/instrumental) plus B.Ed.
- For Physical Education: A graduate degree plus M.P.Ed (Master’s in Physical Education).
- For Painting Arts: A High School certificate plus a Diploma in Fine Arts (including drawing) from a government-recognized institution, along with a B.Ed.
- Reservations: Follows U.P. Public Services (Reservation) Acts for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories. Non-domicile candidates outside Uttar Pradesh are treated as General category candidates.
- Physical Fitness: Candidates must be free from any physical defect that could hinder teaching duties. A fitness certificate from a government hospital or primary health center medical officer is required post-selection.

- Written Examination: 360 marks (120 objective-type questions, 2 hours duration).
- Marking Scheme: +3 marks for each correct answer, -1 mark for each wrong/multiple-marked answer.
- Question Types: Multiple-choice questions (4 options each) with 30 General Knowledge and 90 subject-related questions.
- Interview: 40 marks for shortlisted candidates based on written exam performance.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on the combined score of the written exam (360 marks) and interview (40 marks).
- Tie-Breaking Criteria:
- Higher written exam marks.
- Higher interview marks (if tie persists).
- Higher percentage in postgraduate qualification (if tie persists).
- Higher percentage in B.Ed/equivalent training qualification (if tie persists).
- Older candidate (if tie persists).
