Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027

- Recruitment for Group A and Group B engineering services under the Government of India.
- Conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027.
- Vacancies available in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering disciplines.
- Total expected vacancies: 480, including 19 reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Selection process includes Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test/Interview.

- Nationality: Must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee settled before 01.01.1962, or a person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan/Burma/Sri Lanka/East African countries/Vietnam with a certificate of eligibility.
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution, or equivalent qualifications such as passing Sections A & B of the Institution of Engineers (India) examinations, or a Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
- Age Limit: Must be between 21 and 30 years as of 01.01.2027 (born between 02.01.1997 and 01.01.2006).
- Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 3 years for Defence Services personnel disabled in operations, 5 years for Ex-Servicemen, and 10 years for PwBD candidates.
- Medical Examination: Candidates must meet physical standards prescribed in the ESE 2027 Rules and undergo a medical examination as decided by the Department of Telecommunications.
- Candidates with pending qualifications (e.g., appearing for final exams) can apply provisionally and must submit proof of passing within 10 days of the Main Examination result declaration.

- Stage-I (Preliminary Examination): Objective-type questions in General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks) and Engineering Discipline-specific (300 marks). Total marks: 500.
- Stage-II (Main Examination): Conventional-type questions in Engineering Discipline-specific (300 marks each for two papers). Total marks: 600.
- Stage-III (Personality Test/Interview): Carries 200 marks. No minimum qualifying marks specified.
- Negative Marking: In objective-type papers, 1/3rd of the marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
- Final Merit: Determined by the sum of marks obtained in Stage-I, Stage-II, and Stage-III.
