Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) September 2026

- Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan has released the notification for the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) September 2026, a qualifying exam for teaching positions in Kerala’s Lower Primary, Upper Primary, High School, and specialist roles.
- The exam is conducted under the Right to Education Act, 2009, and NCTE guidelines. It is mandatory for candidates aspiring to teach in Kerala’s educational institutions.
- The test is divided into four categories: Category 1 (Lower Primary), Category 2 (Upper Primary), Category 3 (High School), and Category 4 (Language, Specialist, and Physical Education teachers).
- Candidates can apply for one or more categories by paying the applicable fee.

- Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes): Candidates must possess a Higher Secondary or equivalent qualification with required marks along with one of the following teacher-training qualifications: Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, Four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, Two-year Diploma in Education, or Special Education (where applicable).
- Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes): Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with a recognized teacher-training qualification, including: Bachelor’s degree with B.Ed., Higher Secondary with Four-year B.El.Ed., Higher Secondary with Four-year BA.Ed. or B.Sc.Ed., or other equivalent qualifications recognized by NCTE and Kerala Government.
- Category 3 (High School Classes): Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the relevant subject along with B.Ed., MSc.Ed., or another recognized teacher-training qualification applicable to High School teaching.
- Category 4 (Language, Specialist, and Physical Education Teachers): Applicants must possess the qualification prescribed for the relevant teaching post under Kerala Education Department rules. Check the official notification for category-wise qualification details.

- Selection is based on a written examination conducted in multiple-choice format (OMR answer sheets).
- The exam consists of 150 questions, each carrying 1 mark, for a total of 150 marks. The duration is 2.5 hours.

- Recent and clear passport-sized photograph with a plain background (as per prescribed format and file size).
- Valid proof of educational qualifications (certificates/diplomas).
- Category certificate (if applicable, e.g., SC/ST/OBC).
- Differently-abled certificate (if applicable).
