- Additional age relaxation as per Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.
- Candidates must be mentally and physically fit for efficient duty performance.
- No pending criminal cases against the candidate.
- Male candidates with more than one living wife or female candidates married to a person with another wife require prior government approval.
- Persons debarred from examinations or convicted of moral turpitude are ineligible.

- Selection via Competitive Examination (offline OMR-based) followed by Interview.
- Examination consists of two papers: Paper-I (General Knowledge) and Paper-II (Legal Services & Kannada Language).
- Each paper has 100 questions, 2 hours duration, and 300 maximum marks.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 105 in each paper.
- Negative marking: 0.75 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Interview carries 25 marks with a minimum qualifying mark of 13.
- Candidates shortlisted for interview in a 1:5 ratio per reserved category.
- Final selection based on combined marks from examination and interview.
- Kannada Language Departmental Examination mandatory for candidates not studied Kannada up to SSLC.

- Income and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (if applicable).
- Rural Reservation certificate (Form-2 and Form-1 for General Merit candidates).
- Persons with Benchmark Disability certificate (as per Official Memorandum No. DPAR 115 SRR 2005).
- Kalyana Karnataka Region eligibility certificate (for 371-J claimants).
- Valid photo identity proof (Voter ID/Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Ration Card/Passport/Driving Licence).
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) for in-service candidates.
- Two Character Certificates (one from LL.B institution head and two from respectable persons).

- ₹1,000 for General Merit and OBC Category-II(A)/II(B)/III(A)/III(B) candidates.
- ₹500 for SC/ST/Category-I/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates.
