- OR Ph.D. in Economics or a related discipline.
- OR Candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR NET, SLET, or SET in Economics or a related subject.
- OR Ph.D. candidates registered before July 11, 2009, fulfilling specific conditions (e.g., regular Ph.D. mode, thesis evaluation, publication of research papers, conference presentations).
- Option B: Ph.D. degree from a foreign University/Institution ranked among the top 500 in the world (QS, THE, or ARWU rankings).
- Relaxation: 5% relaxation in marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-Non-Creamy Layer/Differently-Abled categories.
