- JSO (Chemistry): M.Sc. in Forensic Science or Chemistry/Biochemistry.
- JSO (Ballistics & Toolmarks): M.Sc. in Forensic Science, Physics, Mathematics, or B.E. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
- JSO (Questioned Documents): M.Sc. in Forensic Science.
- JSO (Photography): M.Sc. in Forensic Science (Digital/Multimedia specialization) or B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science/Electronics.
- JSO (Cyber Forensic): M.Sc. in Cyber/Digital Forensics, Forensic Science (Digital/Cyber specialization), B.Tech. in Cyber/Digital Forensics, MCA/M.Sc. IT, or B.E. in Computer Science.
- Working experience in a recognized forensic science laboratory is desirable but not mandatory.
- Age limit: 18 to 30 years as on 1st August 2026 (relaxation of up to 5 years for ST/SC candidates).
- Mizo language proficiency is required unless exempted (e.g., studied Mizo in Class-X or above within Mizoram).
